The Sanctuary

A Safe Haven for Youth and Wildlife

Kids Sanctuary

Kids Sanctuary

Edmunds Well Wildlife Sanctuary became a 501©3 nonprofit corporation in 2001. Thanks to many generous donors we have collected enough money to build a lodging facility and an activity center for visiting groups. Every year between Spring Break and Labor Day about 244 youth visit and stay at the Sanctuary.

Use of the Sanctuary is also available to individuals or groups at very reasonable rates for: lodging, fly fishing, bird watching and many other nature activities.  This revenue will help sustain the youth programs which are free.

Activities might include exploration of the high desert, astronomy, fishing, wildlife photography, bird watching, woodworking or just relaxing.  Visits to working cattle ranches will also be available.

The Sanctuary intends to serve a wide variety of children’s programs through contacts with state and local governments and non-profit organizations.  In addition to children who are abused, have physical or learning disabilities, or can’t afford to utilize traditional camp programs, the Sanctuary hopes to be a field trip destination for schools all over Oregon, providing urban area children the opportunity to see “Oregon’s Outback” and learn about the natural world.
