About Us
How it Began
Don and Carol Edmunds purchased 160 acres of land in the Summer Lake Basin in 1986. They drilled Edmunds Well and continued purchasing property until they had 640 acres. Edmunds’ spent twenty plus years changing a desolate 640 acres of desert into a beautiful wet lands sanctuary. The Sanctuary has 300 plus acres of water influenced area, excavated ponds, canals, and dikes. Four artesian wells supply all of the water. All the water circulates by gravity flow. It is an engineering wonder of free flowing water designed by Don. Today the Sanctuary is 560 acres. Hundreds of birds call this home every year.
In 2007 Don passed away, but his legacy lives on.
